Tips to Keeping Your Shoes Organized 04Feb09

The best tip you may ever get about keeping your shoes organized is to put them away. A great way to choose the best spot for your shoes is to think about it strategically. For example, if you do a lot of gardening or yard work, you may want to keep the shoes you wear on a shoe rack in the garage.

Beyond your gardening shoes, you may have several other pairs to deal with, which most likely are kept in your closet with the rest of your clothes. One of the first things you should do when attempting to organize your shoes is to take all of your shoes (yes ALL of them) out of the closet and line them up. You should donate all the shoes you don’t wear to charity. Worn out or old shoes you don’t wear anymore may be the nicest shoes in the world to someone who is less fortunate.

Your next step is to think about how often you wear each pair. The shoes you wear daily or most frequently should be the most accessible in your closet. You can even think about organizing your shoes by season. Keep all the winter boots in one area and summer sandals in another.

Stackable Shoe Cabinets A great way to keep your shoes organized, once you have sorted them, is to use stackable shoe cabinets or shoe racks. These organizational products allow you to place shoes neatly within a concentrated area.

Overdoor Shoe Rack If you have a smaller closet with a lot less floor space, hanging shoe racks are very handy. Most hanging shoe racks will hold up to ten pairs of shoes and can hang easily from the closet bar. There are even hanging shoe racks for the back of closet or bedroom door. A shoe tower is also a good alternative to the hanging rack or stackable cabinet.

If you have plenty of closet space, think about using shelf dividers to keep your shoes in order. The shelf dividers will also make it possible for you to have shoes on one part of the shelf while storing other items on another shelf. Shelves will also make shoes very accessible and visible.

Clear Shoe Boxes Clear, plastic shoe boxes are an excellent way to keep your shoes organized within your closet. These clear shoe boxes are also a wonderful way to preserve your shoes.

As long as you follow these simple tips to organizing your shoe collection you will be less frustrated finding that perfect pair of shoes for the day. Just remember, once you have gone through all the trouble of organizing your shoes, simply put them back in their proper place when not wearing them to help you keep them organized!

Exercise Tips for People on the Move 27Jan09

If you have a busy schedule, you may not think that you have the time to put together an adequate exercise routine. No matter how busy you think you are, there are plenty of good reasons to find time to exercise.

One of the best ways to fit exercise into a busy schedule is to do it at home. Yoga is a great workout and is cost effective too; all you need is a yoga mat and DVD. There are plenty of workout plans for busy folks like you, so look for one that has 20 minute workouts. Exercising for 20 minutes a day is better than nothing. If you work from home, these 20 minutes could be on your lunch break.

Manual Treadmill If you’re not into the yoga mat and DVD, there is always the option of a treadmill or an elliptical machine. If you have a small space, there are plenty of machines available today that fold into neat, compact shapes for easy storage. If you are into toning your muscles you may want to look into a pull-up bar such, as the Iron Gym, or some free weights.

For people who might sit at a desk for an extended period of time, it is important to get up and walk around every so often. This is good for your circulation and your well-being. While at work, place your office implements in strategic places that will encourage activity. Place your stapler on the top shelf, so that you must get up and stretch for it when you need it. Make sure that you take a break at least once an hour. Get up and do a few jumping jacks or good stretches.

On your lunch hour, or during that coffee break, set some time aside to take a brisk walk. Just 10 minutes a day will do the trick. You don’t have to break a sweat and ruin that suit, but get your heart going. Or, walk to a deli nearby to enjoy lunch with your coworkers. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. Do what you can to get your blood flowing and body moving.

At home, if you have chores to do, do them with some enthusiasm. Put some music that gets you in the mood to move and dance away as you dust the dining room. Bring the heart rate up as you scrub the shower or vacuuming the bedrooms. You are being active and getting house work accomplished at the same time.

Exercising even when you think you don’t have the time might be easier than you think. A little activity in the morning or on your lunch break can go a long way.

Mini Aqua Globes Water Plants All Year 23Jan09

So it is winter time…it is cold and snowy outside, so why are we even thinking about watering plants now? Well, we have indoor plants that still need love, and thinking to the near future when the sun shines and it is more than 20 degrees outside and plants can actually grow, we will need to take care of them too.

Mini Aqua Globes Last year, we were introduced to the Aqua Globes. The Aqua Globes were (and still are) an excellent solution to keep plants watered when going away for a while, and for those of us who always manage to find ways to kill our plants from over or under-watering. This year, there is a new kind of Aqua Globe…Mini Aqua Globes. The Mini Aqua Globes are 8 oz, which is smaller than the original Aqua Globe. The smaller sized Mini Aqua Globes are a perfect fit for all indoor plants, and patio and hanging plants (once the outside temperature is right).

We finally have a solution to plant watering problems. So if you are like me and you never know how much water to use, you can use the Mini Aqua Globes because they do all the work for us. Now, we can keep our indoor plants happy in the winter, and growing strong in the spring and summer with the new Mini Aqua Globes.

Use Ottomans Instead of a Coffee Table 19Jan09

There are 2 great uses for a coffee table: The first, at least at my parents’ house, is to have a place to put your feet up while you sit on the couch and watch TV; and the second is to use it as the dinner table. So what is the problem with using the coffee table for these purposes? None! But what if the person on the couch is short (like me) and their feet don’t reach the table? What if one person wants to eat but the other person wants to put their feet up (and who wants to eat with feet in their face?)? The more personalized solution: ottomans!

I watched an episode of Oprah a few years ago, and Oprah was talking about her house. Aside from Oprah’s gigantic closet, I remembered that she made it a point to not have coffee tables in her rooms. Oprah uses ottomans instead of coffee tables; that way, no one feels guilty about putting their feet up. Plus if there are multiple ottomans in the room instead of the coffee table the taller person and the shorter person can sit right next to each other, both with their feet up comfortably.

Snack Table Ottoman There are advantages to using ottomans over coffee tables or snack tables, especially if you find a multi-purpose ottoman such as the Snack Table Ottoman. While snack tables and coffee tables serve a purpose, ottomans are perfect for eating, and giving your feet a place to rest. The Snack Table Ottoman has a dual-top: one flat side to use as a snack table, and a cushioned side for a comfortable foot rest. It even has wheels to move throughout the room easily. This way, one person can eat their dinner on the snack table side of one ottoman, while someone else can relax with their feet on the cushioned side of the ottoman. With an ottoman, everyone wins!

How to Keep an Organized Garage 14Jan09

To organize a garage, first remove the clutter and take inventory. Taking inventory of your garage helps make the cleaning process easier. With this process things should also be thrown away. The next step should be separating your items into categories to help keep everything organized.

The first category could be something like “Things that should never have been saved.” This is perfect for items that have no purpose in the garage, or items that you do not know the proper method required of disposal (Often, your local public services department can provide those answers). Once you have this category solidified, you should be well on your way to clutter removal.

The next category is “Items rarely used.” This is perfect for seasonal items like gardening tools, snow shovels, and sleds. Sport equipment should have its own category. A final category is “items that are not really useful, but have sentimental value.” These items need to be stored somewhere safe out of the way.

Once you have an idea of what items your garage holds you can go out and invest in those organizational products that can work wonders. Quality shelving will keep your garage items off of the floor and out of the way. Shelf dividers are also useful as they allow you to easily split your shelves into sections. Another great product to help with your garage organization is an under shelf organizer. This item allows you to easily hang items up that do not fit well on a shelf.

Fishing Rod Rack Golf Organizer Rack Several items that can cause problems in a garage are fishing poles and golf clubs. A fishing rod rack stores rods and reels. This item can store twelve rods in an upright manner. It also comes with a convenient drawer for all of your accessories. Now, what about the golfing equipment? The golf organizer rack stores two golf bags, and has shelves to store balls, shoes and any other golfing item.

Keeping a garage organized is something that simply requires regular attention. With regular maintenance coupled with the right organizational products, even the most challenging garages in an organized state.

Quick, Easy and Healthy Way to Cook – Ronco Grill Wave 06Jan09

There are many ways that you can be healthy, and when you are trying to be healthy, there are a few things to concentrate on. First, you need to be sure that you get the proper amount of exercise. If you sit still all the time, or if you are not exercising, it is difficult to maintain good health. The second aspect of your health is your diet. It is very important to make sure that you have a healthy diet, to make sure you do not eat more calories than you need, to keep an eye on your fat, protein, and carbohydrate intake, and to make sure you get enough vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

One of the main ways that you can avoid being unhealthy when you cook at home is to bake instead of fry your food. Frying foods in oils or grease will raise the fat content significantly, and greatly reduce the amount of nutrients that the food holds. Baking and grilling are two great alternatives to frying food. Grilling does not add any extra fat to foods, and actually keeps the nutrient levels where they should be. However, grilling is often more time-consuming than other cooking methods. You have to make sure that the BBQ is preheated, and then the baking process itself can be quite lengthy. If you are hungry and need food quickly, it is always tempting to grab something less healthy.

Ronco Grill Wave The Ronco Grill Wave is an appliance that helps you cook the right foods in fast and healthier ways. The Ronco Grill Wave allows you to grill food at microwave speed, which takes a lot less time than heating up your oven. It also bakes from multiple sides, which means there is no need to turn or adjust your food during baking – another time-saver!

The Ronco Grill Wave resembles a sandwich maker, in that it is a quick cooking, multi-functional appliance. There are dual heating chambers, so you can cook both the top and the bottom of your food at the same time – allowing you to cook just about any recipe in less than seven minutes!

Remember that using the Ronco Grill Wave is only a part of what you can do to maintain a healthy body. Be sure to exercise often, and to see your doctor to help you discover what a great healthy eating and exercise routine should be for you.

Holiday Storage Tips for the Whole Family 24Dec08

Around the holidays, it is easy for unorganized piles of gifts and decorations to take over your house. It is time to get organized! You can use these holiday storage tips to help your entire family cut the clutter in your home.

Tip #1: Ask everyone to pitch in with the organization and cleaning.
While your kids and spouse are still at home, hand them, some dust spray, brooms, and put them to work. As you organize, make sure that you label everything, and remember – even the smallest children can get involved. Start them with an organizing routine when they are just two or three, and it should stick with them as they grow. Do not be afraid to ask your family for help organizing, especially around the holidays, and you might even want to hire some help if you are feeling especially overwhelmed.

Tip #2: Keep the bathroom organized!
This year, invest in some storage for your bathroom drawers and walls. A Mounted Hair Care Holder can help you keep curling irons and blow dryers off the countertops, and a Cosmetics Tray can keep your drawers from looking like a colorful cream and powder explosion. Plan enough time so that before you leave for the night, you can clean up the bathroom. That way, it will be organized for the next day!

Tip #3: Organize your fridge.
With Fridge Roll Out Trays that can be installed in just a few minutes, you can see what is in your fridge – even in the back. This saves you time when you are looking for a specific ingredient, and it can also save you money – no more buying duplicates or throwing out spoiled food that you forgot in the very back. You will also save energy.

Tip #4: Do not store items under the tree after Christmas.
While in the days leading up to Christmas you will probably keep your wrapped boxes under the tree, when the big day is over, do not use this as a storage location. Throw away any packaging, paper, or other trash items you missed that morning. Give every item a place in your home so that it can be put away when not in use. Otherwise, things may pile up in your living room or family room long after you take down your tree.

Tip #5: Store your ornaments in special boxes.
It is easy to become complacent and simply throw your tree ornaments together in a big box when you are taking down the tree. If you do not use special ornament storage, your tree decorations could be broken when you go to use them next year. Look for a Christmas Ornament Storage Container instead that is made up of little compartments where you can place each individual ornament to prevent it from being broken and tangled with other ornaments. Along with that, keep your lights and garland rolled nicely with a Light Reel to prevent tangling during the months it is in storage.

Kids Want Toys & Money for Holiday Gifts 08Dec08

Think about the answer you get when you ask children (yours or someone else’s), “What do you want for the holidays?” Some kids want toys, others want money, and some want both! If you’re like me, you want to give the best gifts to everyone on your list, including the children who want toys and money. So I came up with a few great ways of spoiling the kids who want it all and actually giving them everything they want; all-in-one toy and money gifts!

Pinball Money MazeThis Pinball Money Maze is the exemplary all-in-one gift we are talking about here. It’s a pinball game that can be played with but also holds the money or gift card to his or her favorite store.

One Million Dollar Cash Puzzle If the child you’re purchasing a gift for is a bit of a thinker, and likes to solve puzzles, the One Million Dollar Cash Puzzle is the perfect gift! The only way to get the money is to figure out the puzzle. The One Million Dollar Cash Puzzle will be fun for everyone!

Movie Maze Gift Holder If you are giving a DVD or a video instead of money, the Movie Maze Gift Holder will be a fun way to watch the child try to get the gift out. The child has to solve the puzzle in order to watch the movie gift inside.

Green Bilz Try putting a gift card or money into the Green Bilz Box for the interactive child on your list. Green Bilz is a game puzzle, and the ball has to make it through the puzzle in order for the money or gift card to become accessible.

Cash Shirt The Cash Shirt is not a game in itself, but it is still a fun and different way to give any child some cash for the holidays. You just fold the money and use the Cash Shirt to present the money. Who knows? Maybe the recipient will like it so much that he or she will save the money from the cash shirt…maybe.

Money Soap And for the child that hates taking a shower or bath, you can entice them with the Money Soap. The money is inside the Money Soap, but the only way to get to it, is to actually use the soap.

Tips for Simplified Holiday Organization 18Nov08

The tips below can hopefully alleviate some of the stress and pressure the holiday season can create, and help you stay organized.

Take your time
The holidays are supposed to be an enjoyable time of year and there is no reason to hurry A better solution is to take your time and enjoy the process.

Christmas Ornament Storage Box Invest in the right tools
This includes a calendar with large blocks to write all of your engagements and activities in, proper boxes to store your ornaments, like the Christmas Ornament Storage Box, and the right cleaning tools to make quick work of cleanup time before guests arrive.

Divide each job into manageable chunks
Divide each job into pieces. For instance, decorating the house; Put up the tree one day, string the lights the next, and then set out your favorite collectibles over three days.

Store similar items together
You can make the following year much easier. After all of your holiday items are properly boxed for storage, carry them to one storage location and stack them together.

Label each storage container
Labeling each box can make it much easier to find the decorations that you want. Some people are happy with a vague “living room” “dining room” form of labeling, while others prefer more detailed “Santa’s village for sideboard”. Whatever method you choose, remain consistent.

Record what works and what does not
It can be as simple as a list or as complex as a diary. This can include activities, recipes and anything else that makes up your holiday season. Next year, when you are stretched thin, you should automatically know what is worth investing time and effort in and what is not. This is especially true when it comes time to put away your holiday decorations. This can eliminate stress because you have a written record of what type of organizational techniques to avoid and what has worked in years past.

Make lists
List making is an excellent way to stay organized, which reduces stress. Whether it is shopping for gifts or attending Christmas concerts, the number of things that you have to do can seem overwhelming until you get them down on paper.

Be realistic
Christmas may be different from when you were a child, and that’s ok. Your children may have very different ideas of what makes up a fun Christmas. If you work outside of the home, you may have to come to grips with the idea that you have less time to plan than your parent’s did.

Once you have a system in place, maintain it
After taking the time to implement a holiday plan, writing lists and recording what works and what does not, it is important not to become complacent. Developing an organizational plan is the most difficult part of having an organized holiday. Take the time to record, list and store things properly, and you may find each holiday less stressful than the last.
