Laundry Day Dilemma 07Feb11
Laundry day is one of my least favorite days of the week. It’s not actually doing the laundry that’s such a big deal, but it is the putting the clothes away once they are dry that is the worst part for me. Also, since I hate laundry day so much, I am not the girl who does her laundry every week…and to be perfectly honest, I have enough clothing to keep me out of the laundry room for a month (or longer, but I never go more than a month). However, since I wait so long in between I have so much laundry to do. It’s such a vicious circle.
Sunday was laundry day for me, and I certainly had my fair share of 3 weeks worth of clothes to clean. I don’t know about you, but I definitely hang dry the majority of my laundry. Usually it’s not too big of a deal, and I have a pretty large drying rack that holds just about everything I need. However, on Sunday, I found myself in a bit of a dilemma. I had way too many clothes to fit on the one drying rack I have. I also live in a studio apartment, so I do not have much extra space to hang dry my clothes. Let me tell you what I did, and maybe you guys can help me decide what I should do for next time. For the 2 pair of jeans that wouldn’t fit on the dryer, I hung them over my 2 bar stools. For the 4 shirts, I placed them on hangers and hung them on my room dividing screen. And for the 1 dress and 1 cardigan that wouldn’t fit on the dryer, I also put them on hangers and hung them off door knobs. Basically, my apartment had laundry hanging everywhere except in the kitchen.
So, my question is, what do I do? Since we all know I hate doing laundry and I certainly do not hesitate to wait way too long to do it, the chances of me not having enough room on my drying rack again are very high. Do you think I should just wait until this problem happens again and hang laundry all over like I did this weekend? Or, do I be pro-active about this situation and buy a second dryer now so I do not run into this dilemma again?
