Didn't have to tack in place, stays by itself, Wished you could buy them individually vs. sets of two's. I needed 5 and had to order 3 sets. There wasn't any odor as some of the other customers mentioned. Very satified witht the product.

These protectors work great! So far haven't needed to tack them down. They are staying great by themselves. Feels like they give great traction for human feet/shoes. The dogs don't seem to like how the surface feels on their paws so they try to walk around them on the stairs. Overall very pleased with the product and the value for the price.

Simple to put on stairs. I don't think we'll even need to tack the stair treads down.They stay put on our stairs very well.

Easier to work with single protectors vs. a roll of plastic. Looks very attractive. I did not have a problem with an offensive odor as reported by some other buyers.

I didn't notice any offensive smell that others wrote about. These carpet protectors need to be anchored in place...I used 1.5" long, #6 flat head wood screws, with finish washers...I put three across the back edge of the tread to keep the tread from moving, and two along the bottom edge of the nose/vertical edge to keep it from lifting up. I recommend the use of a heat gun, or portable hair dryer, to soften the heavy vinyl (especially on the nose part)to make it pliable for quick and easy installation. I'm very happy with this product, and with the relatively small amount of time and effort it took to install it so that it works efficiently and effectively. You'll be most happy with it if you can do, or have someone do for you, this minor installation job...but don't expect to take it out of the box, slap it down, and walk away...it doesn't work that way. But if you have a heavy traffic set of stairs...like ours that lead up from our lower level garage to the living level of our home, these protectors do a great job of saving wear and tear on the carpet and keeping it clean.
