We secured our to the wall we have front load washer and dryer so things are not falling behind the applicnces the wire rack has stopped that problem.

I use it to store my detergent. It's so much more convenient to have at waist level than to reach above my head like I used to. Plenty of room for my fabric softner also. If I could change anything it would be to make it a solid surface. I'm not crazy about wire shelves because of small objects falling through. It's a pain to have to move the whole washer to get to it.
